Ms. Lani’s STUDIO POLICIES
- Lessons are paid in full on a monthly basis on the first lesson of the month by Venmo, CashApp or Check. The amount will vary depending on the number of Sundays in the month and availabilities/holidays. I always reach out at the start of every month to plan lessons for that month. If a family forgets the payment, it must be sent or dropped off before the next lesson.
- In order to be credited for a cancellation, it must be communicated to be via cell phone at least 48 hours in advance. Payment for this type of cancellation will be rolled over for use the following month unless a make-up lesson is scheduled. If a cancellation occurs past the 48 hour deadline, the payment will not be rolled over unless it’s due to an emergency such as sickness – however communication is appreciated regardless. A student may not have more than 3 cancellations without make-ups in a semester.
- I may be able to reschedule lessons if notified in advanced, however this is not a guarantee. Time is not made up for students who are late to a lesson.
- Holidays are also based off the school calendars, and lessons might be cancelled some weeks for holiday breaks. I always appreciate communication about celebrations you might have that does not follow the public school calendar on a monthly basis.
- Students are expected to practice and come prepared for a lesson. Please have new materials available at least two weeks after I ask you to purchase them. I will not make you purchase items more than once a semester, such as method books or solos.
- A Parent or guardian must be in attendance at lessons (as the student progresses or gets older we can discuss case by case). I find that parents, regardless of musical impact can really help guide and support students when they are involved in the lesson at some capacity. (taking notes, etc.)
- I reserve the right to dismiss a student if the above policies are violated and will handle these issues on a case by case basis if need be.
Thank you for your understanding. I am also a full time middle school orchestra director. At times I might need to reschedule lessons due to commitments to this position that are out of my control. Because of this, I am also very flexible with families (weekend trip & school conflicts can always be worked around). I have no minimum lesson requirement monthly, as long as we schedule the entire month in advance. I also do not charge a semester tuition for this reason and will charge any piano accompaniment for recitals separately.
